Dylan has now tasted one of the yummiest treats ever, a Cadbury Egg. However, he did not exactly have permission. Let me explain, it was time for his nap, and Lord knows he needed a nap. I had put him next to me on my bed because, I am not going to lie, I was going to sneak a nap myself. Oh, let me add that before we laid down, I had already scolded him for attempting to sneak the egg out of a nightstand drawer. Well, I suspect that his plan all along was to imitate being in a deep slumber and then with a crack of his eye open…he would wait until I was asleep. He probably did something to test how deep my sleep was, he is a very smart little boy! Ha.
With his Mommy fast asleep, he made a graceful dismount off the bed and to the nightstand drawer where he plucked the chocolate egg from its hiding spot. I know my son, and he probably stared at it a while, marveling over its color and shape, all the while dreaming of its taste. At this point, with his first unapologetic and thrilling bite, he reaches the cream filled center. After that, it’s all down hill. He does not bother to remove the tin foil wrapper, no that would be too time consuming. He must consume this egg quickly before his Mommy wakes. Dylan has never tasted anything so sweet, comforting, and exotic. He continues pushing the egg straight into his mouth, the soft, warm chocolate melting onto his chubby hands and down his soft chin! His first thought… “I must get rid of this evidence; I’ll wipe it on the walls, the carpet, even the furniture”! But then, all of the sudden, he hears the ominous sound of the garage door opening. “uh-oh, Daddy’s home” he thinks. And now, mommy is stirring…” Oh, crap, what do I do???!!” Just stay calm, Dylan, stay calm…maybe mommy won’t notice me if I stand totally still.”
Well, we all know what happened next. Poor baby, I could not help but laugh at the little guy. It took me a while to clean all the foil out of his mouth and get him clean. His PJ’s went straight to the washer. Chris cleaned the carpets as I wiped down the walls. All the while, Dylan was giving us hugs and trying to help clean up. Oh, I wouldn’t trade him for the world!
