A Family Mini Getaway!

This past weekend was the first time I had ever been to Stone Mountain. I had several people tell me I needed to take the kids and watch the Laser Light & Firework show. I'm so glad we went because it really was a lot of fun! I didn't do a whole lot of research on the park before we went, so I was surprised at just how much stuff there is to do there. Soo much stuff for the kids and plenty of things to interest adults as well. We stayed at the Marriott at the park and I would recommend it to anyone taking a trip to Stone Mountain. My brother, Nicole and my little nephew, Jonah, went too and we had an adjoining room which worked out perfectly!
We loved the pool at the hotel. It was nice & big and they even had a baby pool for little ones.

I gotta be honest, it's almost impossible to get three kids to all look and smile at the camera at the same time!! :)
We played on the lawn for a couple hours before the light show started. Some people are serious about this. They had quite the set-ups! Our little blanket and towels were put to shame.

Nicole took this picture of us while we were watching the show and I absolutely love it! It didn't start until 9:30 so as you can imagine the kids were sleepy.
The next day we rode the Skylift to the top of the mountain. Kinley was an ill pill from not getting a nap the day before. She fussed the whole way up and even when we got to the top.

Chris took her back to the room for a nap as soon as we got back down.

We went to the butterfly house and there were so many butterflies! You can't tell from this picture.
In fact, I can't see any in the picture! Ha! I promise there were tons.
They also had an plantation and farmyard. I love stuff like that. You could walk around in all the houses and they were decorated just like they originally were. It was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip!

If you go visit and have kids, you must take them to the Great Barn. It's a huge free for all where kids can run, yell, jump, play, throw balls, climb..etc. It's pretty much a dream world for them.

We had a busy trip and I really wish we could have had another day. Oh well, we'll just have to go back sometime. ;) We love those three munchkins so much. The things we'll do for our kids to have fun! If you have kids, I highly suggest taking a trip to Stone Mountain. You can't beat all the activities for such an inexpensive price!

Looks like you had a lot of fun! I love Stone Mountain! When I lived in Atlanta I went almost every weekend in the summer. I also used to run around the park when I was in college. It's a lot bigger than it looks when you are running! Fun fact, my husband proposed to me there too!
